Why use the 1.9 thread and drop ALL swap threads TODAY !

Hello Woodchucks Warriors !

So... I've been wondering how I and some guildie friends could help the others in the guild out there... And sometimes, threads are very difficult to use because no GIFs, no JPEGS, links are moderated / censored, etc. So I thought a blog could do it : it's easier to access than Discord (for some of you), we can edit to add some more info, etc. So blog it is :)

The first topic I wanted to address is the ... 1.9 thread. And why you should ALL start using it and stop using swaps altogether.

If you are not familiar with swaps either, no shame, it took me a long time to actually know what swaps were 😲, tell me (ingame) and I'll prepare a post for it on this blog.

WTH is the 1.9 ?

You might have noticed that the Arc is a building that provides additional rewards in FPs, medals and blueprints when you manage to lock a spot between 1st and 5th on someone else's GB. The higher your Arc, the higher the multiplier. When your Arc reaches level 80, the multiplier is... 1.9 ! Yeah 😜 The reason why most people stay at this level is because the following levels only increase the multiplier by 0.1 per level and each level costs a LOT of FPs. So 1.9 is "kinda" easily reachable.

So, when you have a level 80 Arc, you can "lock" a spot on someone else's GB putting down  an amount of FPs that correspond to 1.9 x the standard reward for that spot. When the GB flips, you will get those FPs back... if you managed to keep that spot.

Example : Tower of Babel, level 4 to 5 : the first spot gives 25 FPs. At 1.9 multiplier, it gives 48 FPs. So, if I put 48 FPs on the GB, I will get those FPs back... provided nobody passed me.

That's the principle of the 1.9 !

HTH does it work ?

So, in our guild (like in many other guilds), we have a 1.9 thread where we give the possibility to guildies to "post" their GB for locking spots at 1.9 the amount.

However, like I said before, if I put those FPs, I need to be sure that nobody will take my spot or I will lose... To take the ToB example above, if someone passes me and puts 50 FPs, I get bumped to 2nd place and will only get ... 29 FPs back (15 base reward x 1.9). I will be : 💔😡😱

So, for me to put those FPs on that GB, I need to see that my spot is LOCKED. What does it mean ? It means that the GB's owner has PRIMED his GB so that the person that will fill the 1st spot cannot be SNIPED.

Let's take our ToB example again. From level 4 to 5, the ToB needs a total of 210 FPs. The first spot at 1.9 is 48 FPs. So the owner needs to fill his ToB so that the remaining FPs on the GB are 48 FPs x 2 = 96. Indeed, if only 96 FPs are left to flip and the first place has been taken at 48, then ... there are 48 FPs left. And if another player is silly enough to put 48 FPs, then the GB flips but this second player will only be 2nd...

The formula is simple if the GB is free of any FPs :
Priming needed = Total cost of GB level - (2 x 1.9 x Base reward)

With our ToB example > Priming = 210 - (2 x 1.9 x 25) = 114
--> The owner needs to put 114 FPs on his GB to prime it for 1st position in the 1.9.

If the GB already has some FPs on it, I recommend you go to this page, select then the GB you want to work on. Let's see here a screenshot of the ToB at level 4 to 5 :

The important settings are

  • Building level > put the level you will reach when you flip !
  • % of global investors bonus > put 90 (for 1.9)
In the column "FP to put by the owner to secure the place", it shows you immediately that you need to put 114 to secure spots 1, 2 and 3. Once they have been filled, you will need to add another 9 to reach 123 to secure spots 4 and 5. Et voilà !

The column "Rewards with rate" show how many FPs each spot requires at 1.9 (48, 29, 10, 0, 0).

Why is it cool ?

The thing is... the FPs you get in the 1.9 are FREE
The players that fill those spots do it :

  • To help you
  • To get the prints they need
  • To get medals
  • To bank FPs when they collect
Apart from having FPs "sequestrated" for the amount of time needed for you to level your GB, it doesn't cost them anything. Keep this in mind and try to flip fast ! It's very frustrating to see FPs sitting on somebody else's GB for days, sometimes weeks. I had my personal shit list of people I wasn't taking locks for as I was waiting for weeks to get my FPs back... Don't get on anyone's shit list :)

So... you get FPs for freeIn our ToB example, your total investment will have been 123 FPs for a GB level costing 210 FPs... That's 87 free FPs you just gotYou also level faster...

As opposed to the swaps where you actually invest 100% of the FPs needed to level your GB.

Why you shouldn't wait to have an Arc level 80 to take spots in the 1.9 ?

Remember what I just said ? You get FPs for free... Plenty of those. So don't hesitate to lose some too and pick 4th and 5th positions on GBs for which you need prints

Yes, you will lose some FPs when your arc is not yet 80... but you got so many for free when you level YOUR GBs !

You will also get medals. Medals mean you can buy expansions and put more FP-generating buildings !

By doing so, you also help your guildies level faster. If they level faster, they will get better faster and can help you more in the 1.9 too.

Conclusion

The 1.9 thread is a VIRTUOUS thread. It helps EVERYONE.
  • It helps you get a ton of free FPs and level faster when you work on your GBs.
  • It helps you get medals, cash FPs in the bank (and not in the gauge) and blueprints, when you work on a guildie's GB.
I therefore strongly encourage you to use the 1.9 as much as you can !

Go woodchucks ! Go !

  1. I'm trying to fix up my city and clean it up a bit is there any pointers on doing that? Seems like I can do better with my setup I have

    1. Hey there ! Identify yourself :) Is this Persephone ? If so, I believe I gave you some tips but I will prepare a post at some stage for town optimization :)

  2. All this is great, but I think there's also a use for the swap threads: getting to locked. In the example, it doesn't matter whether I put the first 114 FP on my Tower of Babel or someone else puts them there, so I might as well swap and have a chance of getting some blueprints/medals in addition to locking my GB. I may end up with some of the slots already locked, but that shouldn't be hard to adjust for.

Once the building is locked, then we should stick to the 1.9 thread, as it offers better rewards.

    1. Hey there :)
Actually, it's not really true. Swaps are the best sniping targets there are :)
You're going to have plenty of players putting between 50 and 100 FPs on a GB and when it reaches a sweet spot, I snipe the hell out of those and get 1st spot and everyone else gets bumped down a spot.
The ONLY way to make sure your spot is secure is through the 1.9. Swaps are very random in that way AND much slower to level your GB than through 1.9.
As said in the post > since you get a lot of free FPs in the 1.9, you can spend some by locking lower spots (even at a loss). If you get 100 free FPs on one of your GBs then you can lose several dozens by locking 4th and 5th regularly on other players' GBs (which is how you get prints !).
My progression in the game has changed DRAMATICALLY the day I stopped using swaps and went for the 1.9.

    2. I've tried it both ways now, and I'm in the "1.9x thread only" camp with very limited exceptions (basically, when I can snipe my way into locking a good slot). The benefits of 1.9x are good enough that the little extra bump I might get from a swap thread is outweighed by the times I get sniped and lose FPs.
