Guild Battlegrounds - Guidelines

As you know, we are working on the Guild Battlegrounds piece.

As a guild, we are committed to a high level of participation, as it affects our standing on the server and our overall score as a guild.  We high encourage members to participate, even one encounter helps.

Quick tutorial

Playing in GbG is essentially similar to GE. For each encounter you may either negotiate or fight.  Fights are always against units of your age, though you may use higher aged troops to battle against them if you wish.

A major difference: attrition.  With each fight or negotiation, your “attrition score” may rise, making the next fight more difficult.  This is tracked on a counter on your screen while you are in the GbG environment.  It resets nightly at midnight server time.

What's in it for me ??

When you fight or negotiate, you get a chance of earning rewards, like in GE. Except that it's not systematic in GbG... It's a "chance". The rewards are :
- Diamonds
- FPs (5 in Gold league, 7 in Platinum league)
- Goods
- Attacker boosts
- Military units
- Fragments of Statue of Honor (awesome building both for the guild and the player) : you need 200 fragments to upgrade a level

To fight or negotiate

in the GbG screen, click on any map region that is adjacent to one we already hold.  (Our territory is grey on the map.) If we are already attacking it, there will be a rectangular grey banner over the region.
After you click, you will see a popup with the sector and name of the region. For example, the southeastern-most of the center 4 regions is called “B1: Ofrus Remyr.”  When we are giving directions in the GbG thread, we refer to this as “B1 O.”
If that sector is available to attack, the buttons for attack & negotiate will be orange.  Click on the button and proceed as you would in GE.
Also in this popup window are other bits of information:  how many points remain to take the region, how many points the region generates once captured, who else is besieging it, etc.  As a new player, you need not be concerned with these.

Those are the basic steps to fight.

Buildings

One other important piece - sometimes, we build various types of buildings on the regions we control.  These show when you click the “buildings” button.  For instance, when we build siege engines, it can reduce the amount of attrition accumulated when you attack adjacent sectors to the tile the siege engine is on.  We try to announce this when it’s in play, so that you know it will be easier or less costly to fight or negotiate.

Guild battleground leaders will post targets and updates when appropriate.  These will be in the GbG thread for the most part, also check the header out for the target and status.

It's your guild too, so please don't hesitate to make strategy suggestions in the GbG thread ! We try and make concerted decisions and your input counts - it really does :)

That covers the basics.  If you have more questions or any comments, please post them here or ingame.
