Each type of fighting unit has its own special skills and abilities, designed that there is supposed to be no dominant unit in the game. So each type will have one that it will be stronger and more useful against and another that you won't want to fight with that type. So, the best fighting tip you will get, and this carries over to all the other cities you may start, is:
A stronger defense bonus means your guys will have to get hit more times to kill them. Deal Castle and St. Basil's Cathedral are the Great Buildings designed for helping with defense. Watchfires and ritual flames are made for city defense purposes. Defense buildings from events are sporadic in release and lately have been used in conjunction with attack bonus. You are going to be attacked by neighbors sooner or late. If they can't beat your defense or lose units in the fight, they won't come back or at least anytime soon. If you are still rockin the two spearfighter defense, count on getting attacked daily.
Fight points are game points! Click on town hall, then events, then history and the history screen will have a row of towers across the top. If you have been fighting, your fight points will show up in one of those towers. Which tower, is determined by which age units you used in battle. The highest age unit used for a fight is where those points will show up. Click on that tower and find your points for that age. 2% of that will show up as game points. These are added on after each fight. You can get troops from Ages beyond where you are in research so you can have points in multiple towers. The top five fighters in an age on the tower will get medals as a bonus. GvG fighting counts in the tower also. So, to increase your score much more rapidly, much more fighting is necessary.
Attack the neighbors that attack you or you can attack unprovoked. And learn how the GvG system works. To be honest, you will need the Alcatraz GB for GvG to maximize points.
That's all the tips on fighting that i can come up with right now. I'm sure there are others but you will figure them out as they occur. If you can't, post the question here and we can get an answer.
- heavy beats light light beats fast fast beats ranged ranged beats heavy ~
- This is simple scenario with all things equal otherwise. If you come up against an army of 8 spearfighters, 8 warriors will beat 99% of the time if you auto battle 100% if you fight manual.
- Units lose some striking power when they are hit. Try to get the first shot in.
- The terrain is very important until you get to the gas powered units. Units can get added attack or defense bonus from the different types of terrain. It will skew the percentage rates when used properly or ignored. Light units get defense bonus in trees and bushes, and in Industrial Age and a few others after, hide in those. You will have to be right next to them to be able to attack them.
- Horse units, including champions, cannot cross rocks. They have to go around.
- When you are on the battlefield, if you scroll over a unit a shaded area will appear around it with a darker shaded area on the edge of that one furthest from you. The lighter shaded area show where that unit can move to. The darker area past is where they can strike. You may have to scroll over several to find out where you can move without the possibility of getting hit from enemy fire, but first hit could mean the difference in the outcome.
- A stronger attack bonus will mean less times you will have to hit one to kill it. Attack bonuses are gained from certain Great Buildings with Zeus, Cathedral of Aachen, and Castel del Monte being the ones you will want to start with if you choose to play the game as a fighter. There are more GBs that are fight related, but these are specific to attack bonus. A lot of the event buildings have attack bonus and it looks like most of the new ones are going to continue with this.
